Jason Young co-founded Americans for Lower Drug Prices after witnessing a dear friend forgo an unaffordable drug and spiral into devastating health setbacks—a tragedy that shouldn’t have been.
Throughout his career, Young has championed health care transformation and greater access. In the Obama Administration, he helped launch the Health Insurance Marketplace and other key parts of the Affordable Care Act, which lowered patients’ costs and removed barriers to care. At AARP, he led communications for its 38 million members, working to overturn the ban on Medicare drug price negotiation—a commonsense policy that saves seniors and taxpayers money.
Most recently, Young led communications in the Trump and Biden Administrations for the federal Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H), a $4 billion agency driving breakthrough health innovations. He also served as a senior advisor to the commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and has helped launch and grow several small businesses into significant job creators.
Young’s adopted home state is Vermont—a state on the frontlines of rural health issues: workforce shortages, limited access to care, and real financial pressures on patients and providers alike.
Young holds a bachelor’s degree and MBA from the University of Maryland.
